To ensure the utmost preparation for your wedding, please review the following guidelines regarding weddings at The Greenbrier:
Your wedding manager can hold a tentative date for you for up to 2 weeks with no contract. To secure the space and hold a block of rooms, a deposit is required with a signed Letter of Agreement. The deposit is equal to 25% of the estimated food and beverage charges plus 25% of the estimated guest room revenue.
Once your wedding contract is finalized your guests may start to call and reserve their guest rooms. The Greenbrier also offers Cottages which can be rented for your wedding weekend.
The check out time at The Greenbrier is 12:00 noon and check in time is 4:00 PM. In the event rooms are not available upon arrival, all recreational, dining and beverage facilities will be available to guests at published hotel rates.
Unique to The Greenbrier, is our on-site florist, Gillespie's Flowers and Productions. Gillespie's has been a part of The Greenbrier for over 70 years. Their team is composed of experts in event design and floral arrangements and may provide you with coordinated table linens, napkins, candle arrangements, lighting schemes and floral creations to enhance your wedding celebration. All flowers at an event taking place at The Greenbrier must come from Gillespie's.
The Greenbrier offers dining at its finest. Led by Certified Master Chef Rich Rosendale, we can customize your special day to make sure it is an event to remember. We respectfully require that all food and beverage be purchased through The Greenbrier, and regret that we are unable to accommodate third party vendors or the serving of donated beverages.
Menus for private functions will be selected at least 45 days in advance of the scheduled functions.
MINIMUMS Food and Beverage functions require a minimum number of guests. In the event that the number in our party is below this specified number, you will be responsible for the published minimum and a 22% service charge and 6% state sales tax will apply to your guarantee.
There are also food and beverage cost minimums (exclusive of tax and service charge) which must be met. The food and beverage minimums vary by season, location and the day of the event.
GUARANTEES A guarantee of the number of persons attending each food and/or beverage function will be given to The Greenbrier at least 72 hours in advance of each function. It is Greenbrier policy to over-set by five percent (5%) of the Wedding's guarantee.
CHOICE OF ENTREES If a choice of entrees is offered to your guests, all guests will be served the same first course and dessert. When providing your Wedding Coordinator with the count for the guaranteed number of guests, please also provide an exact count of the number of each entrée. We request that you provide place cards to indicate each guest's entrée selection. Please note that the higher priced entrée charge will apply for all meals.
Should an outdoor ceremony site be selected, the Greenbrier will hold an indoor location as a backup in the event of inclement weather.
We want you to feel comfortable at America's Resort, so the primary dress code for most areas of the property is resort casual.
With more than 50 activities from golf, tennis, fly fishing, European sporting clays and off-road driving, tennis shoes and spikes are acceptable throughout much of the property. Suitable swimwear and loungewear is always welcome in our poolside areas and comfortable resort attire is appreciated otherwise.
Resort casual attire: Collared sports shirts, golf and/or tennis sweaters, shirts or blouses, slacks, walking shorts, Bermuda shorts, golf and/or tennis shorts and shoes.
Business casual attire: Jacket suggested for gentlemen; dresses or evening suits for ladies. In the main dining room, gentlemen are required to wear a tie and jacket. After 7:00 pm, a sport coat is required in the Casino Club.
Swimwear and loungewear: To ensure the greater enjoyment of all guests, robes and swimwear may not be worn outside of the swimming pools and spa areas.
Denim: Denim is allowed at The Greenbrier and is appropriate for some recreational activities such as off road driving and falconry. However, denim is not permitted for dinner in any restaurant or the Casino Club after 7:00 pm.

James Monroe visited White Sulphur Springs with his wife in August 1815 while he was Secretary of State. His physician ordered him to “take the waters” to regain his health.
Ulysses S. Grant visited White Sulphur Springs in 1874. It was a brief visit early in the season as he was traveling west by railroad.
Woodrow Wilson spent his Easter vacation in April 1914 at The Greenbrier. He played golf on the Old White Course. He also divided his December 1915 honeymoon with Edith Bolling Galt between The Greenbrier and The Homestead.
William Howard Taft vacationed at White Sulphur Springs during his 1908 campaign for the presidency. He was feted at a grand ball in the ballroom of the Old White Hotel.
Dwight D. Eisenhower hosted the North American Summit Conference at The Greenbrier March 26-28, 1956. He was also at the resort three times in World War II when The Greenbrier was used as an Army hospital. Once he was admitted as a patient and the other times he was here with Mrs. Eisenhower for rest and relaxation.
